Parenting Coordination

When the relationship between co-parents becomes volatile, the ramifications for the children involved can be severe and far reaching.

Parenting coordination is a dispute resolution process centred around the wellbeing and needs of the children involved. The parenting coordinator, a mental health or legal professional with mediation training and experience, assists co-parents to resolve disputes in parental matters.

Mabel’s experience in high conflict legal and mediation matters, as well as her understanding of human behaviour and life experiences, makes her well equipped to aid conflicting parties to implement parenting plans and clarify parental responsibilities and rights.

Parenting coordination is a cost-effective and time-efficient means to resolve conflicts which does not rely on an overburdened court system. Mabel’s aim is to guide and empower parents with opposing views to enhance their parenting skills and adapt to the change in circumstances without negatively affecting their children, to this end she will mediate to reach consensus in parenting matters and to avoid further court proceedings. In cases where the parents are unable to agree on day-to-day parenting decisions, the coordinator is mandated to issue directives for the parents in line with relevant parenting plans, settlement agreements or court orders. (Until a competent court directs otherwise or the parties jointly agree otherwise.)

If you experience conflict with your ex-partner/co-parent regarding parental matters, and would like to avoid negatively impacting your child/children, consider parenting coordination and address these issues in an immediate, cooperative and private manner.
